MAMA OF VALOR:

Inspiring women to live healthy. Empowering women to live brave. Encouraging women to seek Christ.

There is a war waged against us that we cannot see; a war in the heavenly realms that requires us to be armed with the weapons of God (Ephesians 6). This war calls for an army of believers who band together to pray for each other, provide accountability, and offer encouragement in weak and weary moments. The Enemy is out to steal, kill, and destroy, but praise our Mighty God that He came to give us life--LIFE TO THE FULL, ABUNDANT, SATISFYING LIFE (John 10:10).

Mama of Valor exists to embolden women facing  anxiety, depression, health problems, and trials of many kinds.

Here on this blog you will see topics ranging from health and functional medicine, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and Biblical encouragement and prayers to uplift women facing all kinds of trials. What seems like a vast array of topics is actually closely intertwined. Our health affects our brain which affects our emotions which affects how we deal with physical pain and emotional trauma. Pursuing physical health is crucial to overcoming anxiety and depression and ensuring that we have a healthy brain when we encounter hard things in life. A healthy brain and nervous system stabilizes our moods, motivates us to persevere, and helps us think clearly and rationally when faced with difficult situations. A healthy body alone though is not enough to overcome the intense battles in life. Since many of these battles are against unseen spiritual forces (Ephesians 6), we cannot overcome without an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. He is our ultimate source of power, strength, and wisdom. The beautiful combination of keeping our body, His temple (1 Corinthians 6:19) healthy and our heart and mind in deep relation with Him is what enables us to persevere through trials.

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." (James 1:12 NIV)

Social media addiction: When God commands you to fast and rest

Hi, I’m Sydney, and I have a social media addiction. This addiction has subtly worsened my struggle with pride, it’s robbed me of precious family-time, and it’s caused emotional trauma that I wasn’t even aware of while it was happening. It’s an addiction that I believe many have but often goes unrecognized as such, and as a result, I think Satan easily uses it as a sneaky tool to manipulate, distract, and poison...

heart lessons from a toddler

He looked back at me and my husband before he proceeded to run towards the playground. Every few minutes we would see him looking our direction smiling, checking to see if we were still there, excited to know that we were watching him play. Part of the time he seemed nervous, like he was waiting for us to nod our approval and assure him of his safety before he continued on. Part of the time he seemed to be longing for attention or excitedly showing us how he could go down the slide alone. And, as I stood there patting myself on the back for how I have raised a securely attached son (anyone ever taken a childhood psychology class?!), I started to ask myself if I had a “secure attachment” with my Heavenly Father.

Health Resources: ESSENTIAL OILS

Mental health is something that I talk a great deal about here on this site. I've had quite the experience with depression and anxiety throughout my life and I try to be transparent about it so that others can be encouraged by my journey. I've gotten many questions on ways I support my body and cope on hard, stressful days. So, I wanted to share one of my favorite "tools" to use when I'm feeling overwhelmed or emotional--Essential Oils!
